The first summer sunrise of 2020 was a balmy 3*C. That doesn't mean it wasn't stunning and left a lasting impression on me. This is one morning in the quiet of a sleepy city that I'll never forget. As I walked around the paths of Signal Hill, I made my way to Cabot Tower and set up my camera. Just as the sun peaked up over the hill and I took my shot, a bird nearby started singing. The tune was curiously similar to the first line in 'Ode to Newfoundland'. "When sun rays crown thy pine clad hills, and summer spreads her hand" As I finished up and walked back to my car to get myself home to a warm cup of coffee, I had a big smile on my face. Summer had officially begun and the birds were celebrating in true Newfoundland fashion.
