Gros Morne Mountain has a unique and expressive personality, and it begs to be climbed despite the challenge. It's name means "great sombre", and does have a lonely expression on its treeless and isolated face. It is much larger than it appears here, and my vantage point as the crow flies was 7km away, and the edge of the forest in the foreground is about 5km away from the base of the mountain.
