This is one of several photos from my "Fishing" series. Years after the cod collapse and the resulting 1992 moratorium devastated the Newfoundland economy, the cod stocks have only seen a modest recovery. But for Newfoundlander's and Labradorians it is a rich and significant part of our history and our culture. Today, while limited in scope, and with small retention limits, residents of the province can at least enjoy catching a few cod to put on their dinner tables. This photo represents many memories and good times jigging cod, the old fashioned way, one fish at a time.
