Atlantic Puffins RAW by Lisa B Sells

2025 Calendar • from January 2025 to January 2026
The Atlantic Puffins make their way back to Newfoundland each summer and delight visitors from near and far. Comical and colourful, these tiny sea birds burrow holes on rocky little islands off Newfoundland where they lay their eggs to protect them from predators. Enjoy watching their courting and mating habits, called billing, where they rub beaks together and generally draw a crowd of puffin spectators. Their colourful beaks, tiny stature and quick comical movements are a delight for both young and old. The best places to see puffins are: the Bonavista Peninsula, Witless Bay Wildllife reserve and Cape St Mary's Ecological reserve. Elliston is one of my favourite viewing spots for close encounters from land. However, a boat ride from Bay Bulls, is also a treat for viewing another busy colony while you watch them skip over the water next to your boat. Watch them fly around you and perhaps over a whale! Wherever you go, they will never disappoint but leave you with a delighted happy grin on your face.
