Melvin Legge was born and raised in Twillingate, Newfoundland, the son of an inshore fisherman. He grew up fishing with his father and continued fishing commercially until the age of 27. His years fishing instilled a love for the outdoors and wildlife.
During the decline of the inshore fishery in the late 1980s, Melvin moved to St. John's to further his education. After working in St. John's for several years, he moved to Ottawa where he has been working as a software developer for the past 18 years.
Over the past couple of years, Melvin has developed a passion for photography and is pursuing evening courses at Algonquin College to sharpen his photographic skills. Melvin travels back to Newfoundland several times per year where his photographs reflect his love for his native landscapes and nature.
