Watercolour Symbolic Whale Pod of 6
Painted by Amber McLure Hutton in St. John's Newfoundland.
"I became inspired to portray whale families or pods in my paintings as I learned how similar whales are to human families and human relationships.
Groups of whales are often called pods and they are usually together because they are families such as parents/mothers with offspring, other family members and they may be together because of friendships that occur between two or more whales.
My paintings are reflective all those relationships and I feel they are an excellent way to celebrate and pay tribute to our own lives and of those special to us.
Here in Newfoundland, we are very fortunate to enjoy these beautiful creatures as there are over 22 different species that visit our shores.
