As humans we have proclaimed sovereignty over all the lands of this planet and staked our claim with a flag of one form or another. In creating this painting, I imagined that, if the giant whales that grace our coves here in Newfoundland were to do the same, they would claim sovereignty over the entire seven seas. This is their flag. The original is an acrylic painting on wood.
