This remnant of tuckamore with their twisted and gnarled branches suggest a life shaped by an inhospitable climate, and a death, likely brought on by climate change. When I learned that the locals called Gros Morne, “The Great Sombre”, I thought, what an apt metaphor for this anguished feeling for our planet that haunts us all today. The original work is a mixed media acrylic painting on masonite.
