Dories were a critical part of the fishing industry in Newfound andLabrador. Sailing schooners travelling to Labrador in the spring would carry several dories stacked on the deck and used for hand fishing while the schooner was anchored. The favorite colours were yellow or orange, which was easier to see against the dark ocean, and green trim that stands out better in the fog.
